A Few Words from Our Chairman

Hill2

I hope you’ve survived the winter and are coming out of hibernation.

You’ve not got long left to get that car sorted, especially if your planning on running at the test day. This year for the first time there will be a small charge for spectators.

Set up day has been set for MARCH 19th.

Please can you come along and lend a hand for as long as you can spare the time.

As usual there is a long list of jobs to complete, in the past your help and support has greatly eased the load.

So please make a note in your diary and accept my thanks in advance.

Dave Wickham – 20th February 2017

Hugh Kemp

It is with deep regret and sadness we have to announce the death of Gurston Stalwart Hugh Kemp.

Hugh’s Hillclimb career encompassed many varied Racing Cars but latterly his enthusiastic conducting of his lovely Historic Palliser.

RESULT: 2016 Meadens Skoda Gurston Down Hill Climb Championship

The Meadens Skoda Gurston Down Hill Climb Championship has been very close all season.

The September meeting was going to be the decider! Both Stephen Moore (the 2015 Champion) and Simon Purcell (the 2014 Champion) could be crowned depending on class wins and record breaking runs!

After the first timed runs, Simon had a bit of a spin at Ashes and Stephen “just” matched his previous record! So it was all going to be decided on the second timed runs!

Stephen did exactly what he needed to, breaking his own record again and winning the class! But it now depended on Simon’s run! Sadly, Simon didn’t quite make it, leaving Stephen as Champion!

FULL CLASS RESULTS:

The Road Going Series Production up to 2000cc Class Champion is Adam Greenen. His brother, Andy, was second in their rather rapid Honda Civic Type R. Tim Forster and his lovely Lotus Elan, finished third.

Well done to all the competitors and the class champions for their valiant work all season!

And lets not forget all those people who made our championships possible! The office staff, the marshalls, timekeepers, control, scrutineers and officials without whom we couldn’t run our meetings. Thanks to Ashley Wood Recovery, TSL Timing, Insight Medical Services, Insight Security and Peter Crutcher from Ringwood PA for their years service.
