TURBO DYNAMICS GURSTON DOWN CHAMPIONSHIP

We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Turbo Dynamics Gurston Down Championship is Clive Stangle.
Clive scored maximum points in the 2022 season as did Stephen Wareham. However, under the tie-break rules, Clive became the 2022 Turbo Dynamics Champion.
The full championship results have not been published as there are a number of tie-break situations that are yet to be resolved.

COMPETITOR INFORMATION – Championship Finale August 27th and 28th

Revised Finale Instructions and Entry Lists, including numbers, batches and paddock spaces, have been issued for the Turbo Dynamics Championship Finale weekend on Saturday, August 27th and Sunday, August 28th.

Final Instructions

Entry List, includes Numbers, Paddock Plan and Batch Details

Fire Risk – We have added some extra items to the Final Instructions that include information to reduce the on-site fire risk, particularly in the camping areas.

These are a summary of those details below, but you must familiarise yourself the whole document:

“FIRE PREVENTION …. PLEASE NOTE IMPORTANT POINTS WE ASK EVERYONE TO
FAMILIARISE THEMSELVES AND ABIDE BY:

The two most vulnerable areas for fire are the Camping Field and Hollow Bend. Therefore:

1. We are forbidding the use of ANY fires or cooking outside motorhomes and caravans, meaning no BBQs
whether or not on the ground, no CADACs, etc, in the camping field.

2. All cars using titanium skid plates MUST have them removed or covered with an inert material, i.e. duct
tape or similar. These must be checked or replaced after every run.”

Who will win the Turbo Dynamics Gurston Down Championship?

The 2022 Turbo Dynamics Gurston Down Championship will be decided at the August meetings.

The two likely champions are Stephen Wareham and Clive Stangle. Both have had outstanding performances this year in their classes. They have consistently beaten their respect class target times in every event entered. Additionally, Stephen has lowered his own class record at almost every event.

If Clive and Stephen score in the same manner as they have done at previous events, then we would expect the tie-break rules to come into play.

The first tie-break to be applied would be “a) The competitor with the higher number of scoring rounds wins”. Clive would become champion.

With double points on both timed runs on Sunday you cannot discount other drivers. Ben Bonfield or Chris Burch are both still in with a chance but they need some really great performances and errors or issues for Clive and Stephen to jump to the top of the championship leader-board.

It looks like the August Sunday timed runs will decide the Turbo Dynamics Championship.
