Setup day prepares the course for use after the winter and there are lots of things to do. No experience is required, just a desire to see something on the list (or something else) and have a go. Here are a few examples of our todo list:
- Fit timing screens for spectators
- Move the tables and chairs from store shed to restaurant
- Clean the toilets
- Hang the advertising banners around the venue
- Remove debris from gutters on office, toilets and other buildings
- hang/erect “Motorsport is Dangerous” and “Prohibited Area” signs
- Clean out the control hut
- Clean out commentators hut
- Cut back the grass along the edge of the course, including kerbs
- Cut and clear drainage gulleys at side of course
- Clear drainage pipe at hollow
- Ready vehicles for use by officials (mondeo and 4×4)
- Hang “Welcome to Gurston” at gate and “No Motorhomes” signs
- Put up “You are here” maps
- Put up “The Times” sign for competitor times run printer
- install temporary green barriers at Ashes corner
- Pressure wash bins
- Cut back Brambles from around marshal huts
- Clear path from finishline marshals hut to woods
- Clear spectator path to Karousel through woods
- fix pot holes in bottom paddock
- Lock personnel gate at Hollow
- check and complete any required startline spectator fence repairs
- Repaint any warning paint, step-edge paint
