What is Speed Hill Climbing About?

The challenge of Speed Hill Climbing sounds simple. To drive or ride from a standing start to a flying finish in the shortest possible time. Results are often decided by the very narrowest of margins. The course is short and technical, precision is key.

Of course, cars can be of different performance and the drivers have different experience, so you are firstly competing against yourself and your previous best time, then your fellow competitors in your class, the class record and ultimately – if you and your car is quick enough – to claim the ultimate prize of FTD, the “Fastest Time of the Day”

Cars and motorbikes (and sidecars too) are divided into categories and classes, so that similar cars (bikes) compete against each other. Each driver also has their own personal best time so not only do they race against other drivers but themselves.

There are also class and course records too. Timing is done to the nearest one-hundredth of a second!
